Go watch it, the second season is garbage, but the rest are nice.

Vampire knight

Yuki’s earliest memory is of a stormy night in winter, where she was attacked by a rogue vampire and rescued by Kaname Kuran, a Pureblood vampire. Now ten years later, Yuki Cross, the adopted daughter of the headmaster of Cross Academy, Kaien Cross, has grown up and become a guardian of the vampire race, protecting her childhood crush, Kaname, from discovery as he leads a group of vampires at the elite boarding school. At her side is Zero Kiryu, a childhood friend whose hatred for the creatures that destroyed everything he held dear leaves him determined never to trust them. This coexisting arrangement seems all well and good, but have the vampires truly renounced their murderous ways, or is there a darker truth behind their actions? Because in this world of secrets, nothing is as it seems. And the price of misplaced trust may even be worse than death. Should Yuki truly find out what was in her past, is the truth going to hurt her worse than not knowing?(wikipedia)

I liked this series even though I can’t explain anything without spoiling it, you have to read the manga for the real ending.

Nijū Mensō no Musume/daughter of 20 faces

Chizuko Mikamo is a young girl living with her aunt and uncle after her parents died. She behaves coldly toward them, despite their efforts to make her happy, because she knows that they are trying to slowly poison her so that they can take her inheritance for themselves. Because of her intelligence and knowledge gained from reading detective novels, she works to avoid eating the food her aunt prepares, but it is impossible to avoid all together and she still takes in enough to cause her to collapse. Her butler is revealed to actually be the world-famous thief Twenty Faces, who was there to steal Chizuko’s rightful inheritance, a family heirloom gem known as the Anastasia Ruby. When he realizes just what Chizuko’s been going through, however, he asks her if she wants to come with him and his band on their travels around the world. She agrees and Twenty Faces takes her back with him to join his gang, who affectionately shorten her name to Chiko. Two years pass and Chiko is now a strong thief, having learned the tricks of the trade from Twenty Faces and the members of his band. Now, with Twenty Faces and the rest of the band as her family, she has found a home at last.

After living with the band for two years, Chiko becomes a skilled thief and thinks of Twenty Faces as her father. But a sudden train accident caused by Tiger, Twenty Faces’ strongest enemy, kills most of the band and seems to have killed Twenty Faces himself. By chance a detective who works for her aunt finds her and, after being “rescued” two years after Twenty Faces “kidnapped” her, Chiko is forced to return to her aunt’s house, where she becomes depressed and refuses to talk because of the shock of Twenty Faces’ death. But when a mysterious detective appears and she learns that there is a possibility that he may still be alive somewhere, Chiko becomes more lively and works, with the help of a few new friends, to find him by following the clues that he seems to have left behind, beginning with something that is rightfully hers and had been left in his care: the Anastasia Ruby. Now, Chiko must dodge her aunt’s attempts to murder her and unravel the mysteries Twenty Faces left for her to solve, or so it seems. There are many steps in her long journey, some of which awaken painful memories and others that lead her to discover more about the past of the man behind Twenty Faces and herself. (wikipedia)

Chiko is such an amazing girl who can kick butt! She’s a girl who will literally throw you to the ground with class. 20 faces is kinda a bad parent because he did raise her for a while, but he just leaves without saying anything sometimes….

Mōryō no Hako

The story takes place between August and October, 1952. It primarily follows crime fiction writer Tatsumi Sekiguchi and news magazine editor Morihiko Toriguchi as they investigate, with the help of onmyōji Akihiko Chūzenji, a series of unusual crimes that take place in Musashino and Mitaka.  I’m so disappointed I didn’t find out about this anime years ago! CLAMP designed the characters, but they didn’t make the story. Near the last episode, it’s a huge info drop that surprised me, but it had a good mystery plot.

Our Home’s Fox Deity/wagaya no oinari-sama

Tōru and Noburo are brothers of the Takagami Family. Toru has Yin in his blood and is constantly targeted by the yōkai and other creatures lurking in Japan. When Tōru is targeted by one, his brother Noburo releases the fox deity Kūgen Tenko who protects Tōru from the monster. Kūgen now acts as the protector of Tōru and Noburo to keep them safe from any threats to them, while at the same time trying to adapt to the modern world. (wikipedia)

I like momonoke/ayakashi animes with action/fights + a plot, and this one did well.

Gunslinger Girl

Set in Italy, Gunslinger Girl follows the exploits of the Social Welfare Agency (often referred to as simply “the Agency”), ostensibly a charitable institution sponsored by the Italian government. While the Agency professes to aid the rehabilitation of the physically injured, it is actually a military organization specializing in counter-intelligence and counter-terrorism. It is composed of two independent branches: Public Safety, its surveillance and intelligence-gathering division, and Special Ops, the anti-terrorist division. Special Ops is itself divided into Sections 1 and 2, the latter of which employs young girls who have experienced traumatic and near-death experiences fitted with cybernetic implants as agents. The implants, which consist of synthesized muscles and carbon fiberframes, result in heightened strength and reflexes as well as high resilience to damage and pain. Each girl is paired with an adult male trainer, or “handler”, and together they are referred to as a fratello — Italian for “sibling”. The handler is responsible for the training, welfare and field performance of his charge, and is free to use whatever methods he considers suitable. While these methods vary according to the handler, a common part of each girl’s regimen is brainwashing called “conditioning”, which produces a deadly assassin with unquestioning loyalty to her handler but, if used excessively, also limits her life span.

Each fratello exhibits a unique dynamic. Most of the handlers have police or military backgrounds and were recruited directly into Section 2. Most also chose their own cyborgs from a list of candidates, though some appear to have been assigned a cyborg. The Social Welfare Agency primarily concerns itself with dealing with the Padania Republic Faction (PRF or RF), an organization seeking an independent Northern Italy through acts of terrorism and bribery. A very serious show, I read some of the manga, so I’m assuming the anime is the same…

Natsume’s Book of Friends

For as long as he can remember, Takashi Natsume has had the ability to see spirits, inheriting the power from his grandmother Reiko. Upon her death, Reiko bequeaths to her grandson her Book of Friends, a book containing the names of spirits Reiko had bullied into servitude. The Book of Friends is a highly prized item in the spirit world, and spirits haunt Takashi constantly. Whereas Reiko formed the contracts, however, Takashi spends his time dissolving the contracts and releasing the various spirits that come to him for help. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t malicious spirits trying to kill him. Which is where Madara (called Nyanko-sensei by Natsume) comes in; Madara serves as Natsume’s bodyguard and spiritual advisor of sorts, even though he is motivated by his own desire to possess the Book of Friends. He later on begins to become more attached to Takashi. (wikipedia)

It’ll calm your soul (maybe).

Hell girl/jigoku shoujo

Each episode typically follows the format of a self-contained short story where a person has been suffering torment from an acquaintance to the point that he or she accesses the Hell Correspondence website and submits a request to get rid of the person.Ai Enma, the Hell Girl, appears, and presents a doll with a string that can send the named antagonist to Hell. When the string is pulled, Enma and her companions then torment the antagonist, offering a last chance to repent (which is usually refused), and ferries them to Hell. The price of the contract is that the person making the request will also have to go to Hell after his or her life is over.

Starting with the eighth episode, Hajime Shibata, a former journalist who has resorted to taking scandal photos to blackmail people, begins investigating the rumors surrounding the Hell Correspondence website, and discovers that people are literally being dragged to Hell. His daughter, Tsugumi, is somehow able to see Enma. As the series progresses, they become conflicted on whether they should intervene to save the people involved. In the second season, a mysterious young girl from Hell, named Kikuri, is introduced. Kikuri is able to travel freely between Earth and the Twilight realm where Enma resides. Later, the plot centers around Takuma Kurebayashi, a boy who is blamed by his townsfolk for causing disappearances around the town that are, in reality, caused by the townsfolk using the “Hell Correspondence” website. In the third season, Kikuri returns to recruit Enma’s assistants along with a yōkainamed Yamawaro, who accepts an old offer from Enma to become her fourth assistant. The story follows Enma’s mysterious possession of a young schoolgirl, Yuzuki Mikage. (wikipedia)

First season was the best, it goes downhill after that…

Yakushiji Ryouko no Kaiki Jikenbo

Based on a series of light novels written by Tanaka Yoshiki and illustrated by Kakinouchi Narumi.

The story revolves around Ryouko Yakushiji, a 27-year-old multilingual investigator that graduated from Tokyo University’s elite Department of Law, and the bizarre cases she faces while working for the Tokyo Metropolitan Police. Yakushiji not only has to deal with supernatural beings in her line of work, but also her rival Yukiko Muromachi, another equally talented and beautiful police investigator.

Left some questions, but Ryouko is a cool female lead, and so are all of the other characters.

The average:

xxxHolic

Watanuki Kimihiro can see spirits and other assorted supernatural creatures, which is quite a bothersome ability he strongly dislikes. On the way home one day, while plagued by some spirits, he is inexplicably compelled to enter a strange house. There, he encounters Yuuko, a mysterious woman who claims to be able to rid him of the ability to see and attract the troublesome creatures—for a price. She demands that he work at her “store” that grants wishes to people, and thus begins Watanuki’s adventures through weird and wonderful events.

I watched some episodes, skipped some around, it’s okay. Some episodes are better than others and you can skip some, but you shouldn’t =.= It dragged on for me, but if you have patience you’ll like it + it is CLAMP so it’s connected to their other works.

The BL anime didn’t really solve anything, in fact it left me more confused and it didn’t explain/answer ANYTHING or say why they(?) like each other(?)

A certain magical index

A Certain Magical Index is set in a world where supernatural abilities are a reality. Individuals who possess special powers acquired via science are called Espers (超能力者 Chōnōryokusha?). They possess their powers from birth, but most only awaken them during the Power Curriculum Program. Those Espers who awaken their abilities without the aid of special scientific instruments, whether at birth or through meditation, are referred to as Gemstones (原石 Genseki?). Others, known as Magicians (魔術師 Majutsushi?), gain their powers upon mastering the power of magic, either from obtaining knowledge from special books known as Grimoires (魔道書Madōsho?) or by using mystical artifacts, though the existence of magicians is a secret to the public. While Magicians align themselves with ancient religions, Espers are aligned with scientific institutions. This leads to a power struggle between the magic and science factions for control of the world.

The story is set in Academy City (学園都市 Gakuen Toshi?), a technologically advanced city located in western Tokyo that is known for its educational and research institutions. Tōma Kamijō is a student in Academy City whose right hand, the Imagine Breaker, has the ability to negate any supernatural power, but also negates his own luck, much to his chagrin. One day, Tōma meets a young girl named Index – a nun from Necessarius, a secret magic branch of the Church of England, whose mind has been implanted with theIndex Librorum Prohibitorum – 103,000 forbidden magical books that the Church has removed from circulation. His encounter with her leads him to meet others from the secret worlds of science and magic. Tōma’s unusual power places him at the center of conflicts between the Magicians and Espers in Academy City who try to unravel the secrets behind Academy City, Index, and Tōma’s own special power. BL. I didn’t like this ending, since it makes you read the manga, but it was ok.

While being housebroken, the kitten mistakenly answers to “Chi” (as in “shi” from shikko, the Japanese word for “urine“, as seen in the animation and manga when the main character goes “pee”) and this becomes her name. Chi then has a splendid time living with her new family, learning about different things and meeting new people and animals. (wikipedia)

Aria

Aqua and Aria take place in the early 24th century, starting in 2301 AD, in the city of Neo-Venezia on the planet Aqua—formerlyMars, which was renamed after being terraformed into a habitable planet covered in oceans around 150 years beforehand.[4] Neo-Venezia, based on Venice in both architecture and atmosphere,[5] is a harbor city of narrow canals instead of streets, traveled by unmotorized gondolas.[6]

At the start of Aqua, a young woman named Akari arrives from Manhome [sic] (formerly Earth) to become a trainee gondolier with Aria Company, one of the three most prestigious water-guide companies in the city. Her dream is to become an undine, a gondolier who acts as a tour guide (see Terms below). As she trains, Akari befriends her mentor Alicia, trainees and seniors from rival companies – Aika, Alice, Akira and Athena and others in the Neo-Venezia city. Aqua covers Akari’s arrival on Aqua and her early training as a Pair, or apprentice, while Aria continues her training as a Single, or journeyman, culminating in the graduation of her, Aika, and Alice as full Prima undines.

Each chapter is a slice of life episode of Akari’s exploration of the worlds of gondoliering, Neo-Venezia, and Aqua itself.[5] Amano frequently uses several pages of lush art to depict an environment, showing the wonder of both everyday activities as well as one-of-a-kind events. It has been described by reviewers as very similar in tone and effect to Yokohama Kaidashi Kikō.[5][7][8][9] (wikipedia)

Allison & Lillia

Allison & Lillia’s story covers the story from the Allisonlight novels for the first half of the series, and switches to the story from theLillia and Treize light novels for the second half. Allison & Lillia is set in a world with one continent split down the middle from north-south by the towering Central Mountains, and the vast Lutoni River. Due to the geography, two cultures developed on either side of the divide. The eastern region is formally known as the Roxcheanuk Confederation, though more commonly known as Roxche (ロクシェRokushe?). The entire region comprises sixteen countries which all speak a common language. The western region is formally known as the United Kingdom of Bezel Iltoa, though better known as Sou Beil (スー・ベー・イルSū Bē Iru?). This region comprises the two kingdoms of Bezel and Iltoa which both serve to bring together a small number of countries under the same common language as with that of the eastern region. There are more blond people in the west than in the east. At the time the story begins, it is year 3287 on the fictional universe’s World Calendar during summer. By this time, the two regions have been at war on and off for most of history, with the most recent hostilities breaking out some thirty-five years prior to the start of the series. An armistice has been in effect for the past thirty years, with only one major conflict during this time, creating a buffer zone thirty kilometers on either side of the river. The industry and technology of the world are roughly equivalent to the 1930s.

The first half of the story centers around Allison Whittington, a young blonde pilot in the Roxche Air Force who has experience with biplanes. She comes to visit her good friend Wil Schultz (short for Wilhelm, so pronounced Vill) during his summer vacation at Rowe Sneyum Senior School’s dormitory after being away for six months. Wil, who resides in Roxche, enjoys reading books, has a photographic memory, and is a good marksman. The two get involved in three different adventures over a period of a year where they meet new people and form important bonds. (wikipedia)

The goal of the operation is to discern which child the prophecy applies to, as well as to teach him or her about the love of family in hopes of convincing him or her to not destroy the world. The story focuses on the mishaps and adventures that the ad hoc family experiences together. (wikipedia)

This is still the most boring anime I have ever watched and I watched a lot of episodes of this show. I know it’s popular, but It’s REALLY boring to me, especially since it’s about finance, merchants, and all. There are just about a few fights.
